December
2004
We
are ending another year in the Oregon Trails Walk to Emmaus community. It has been a year full of change and
issue. We have lived through many of
both and still the testimony Pilgrims give on Sunday at the end of a Walk
reflect the fullness of Grace in their experience. To that extent, the Master has blessed our
efforts.
Your
Board is going to minimize the changes for the next couple of walks. Funding has been authorized for publishing a
new songbook scheduled for use during the Spring Walk in
The
other significant change is a new set of talk outlines published by
International Walk to Emmaus. We plan to
implement the new talk outlines for use during the Fall Walks in 2005. Integrating these into the process of
conducting Walks is a significant challenge and we need to take the time to do
it right.
Your
Board anticipates we will not change the Walk script now for a while to give
the community a chance to provide feedback to help refine the process. Guidelines surrounding the International
Model assume each Walk is held in a retreat center with staff to do the cooking
and cleaning. A lot of what is specified
for procedures in the Model result from what an
I
wish to thank those who have served the community faithfully this year by
working as members of the Board. Each
one has steadfastly held the well being of the community foremost in their
prayers and thinking as they completed the work of the board. To those taking their leave, I wish to
express my personal thanks. Your efforts
yielded much good fruit over the past three years.
The
Directors elected to the board this year include three men and three women, all
with a desire to continue doing what's best for this community. They all are welcome additions. Please join in making each welcome in these
new roles.
Finally,
I wish to express my thanks to each reader for your involvement in Christ's
mission to the world and this community.
Each one is serving an important role (or maybe several) in the local
church. We continue to work within the
loving Grace of God to support each other in those efforts. I pray daily for the community and the local
church leaders we hope to enable with the Walk weekends. God's Blessings to all
during this holiday season.

Chrysalis
News and Information !
From
the Chrysalis Committee:
To The Emmaus Community / Chrysalis Community.
This is going to be my final letter to the Community. I am stepping down as Chair of Chrysalis. I have been Chair for two and half years and on the Chrysalis Board for over ten years. I think we need some new blood to get the youth and community excited about Chrysalis. I have enjoyed my time with the youth and it has kept me young at heart. I have enjoyed working with all the Emmaus Community and their support in the Chrysalis Flights. We have one Flight coming up in January. Girls Flight January 6th - the 9th. (Editor’s Note: Boy’s Flight cancelled due to lack of Butterflies.). This Flight is going to be held at the Salmon Creek UMC. CUT OFF DATE FOR BUTTERFLIES AND WORKERS TO WORK WAS DECEMBER 16TH.
As of right now, we have only one confirmed Butterfly. (Editor’s Note: Girl’s Flight now has 10 confirmed Butterflies). The ones who were going on the last August Flight have not confirmed that they are going. They say leave it to God and He will make a Way.. Sounds like a song. I have to admit I get nervous a lot.
So as my farewell, it has been great, and I would do it all over again, because of the youth and the Emmaus Community.

Purify My Heart
Girls’ Chrysalis Flight #20
As
we busily prepare for the Chrysalis, God continues to bless us. We are in need
of a few workers, but the team is almost full. We are in need of a Prayer Chapel
Coordinator as well as Saturday and Sunday Love Chairs. There are also a few
positions available for youth. If you are feeling that “tug” to serve at this
time we would love to have you on the team. We are looking for a Prayer Chapel
Coordinator and Saturday and Sunday Love Chairs. At this writing we have 8
Caterpillars and we are excited to see what God has in store for each of us.

His Service,
